Semmelweis University is located in capital of Hungary, Budapest and consists of Faculty of dentistry, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Health Sciences and Faculty of Health and Public sciences. It is one of the most renowned university in the central Europe region. According to the recently released QS World University Rankings 2016 placed Semmelweis University among the world’s best 151-200 universities in the categories of medicine and pharmacy.
University is also ranked first among the Hungarian universities.

Faculty:

Students study Dental medicine at Faculty of Dentistry. The Faculty of dentistry offers academic programmes at the undergraduate, postgraduate and Ph.D. levels. Dentistry training programme results in a Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) and is available in three languages: Hungarian, English and German. The Faculty has many scientific collaborations with European countries, as well as with plenty of Institutions from the U.S.

Recognition in EU and rest of countries :

Diplomas issued by Semmelweis University are recognized automatically in European Union.
In USA graduates need to take USMLE exam (United states medical licencing examination) ( Semmelweis university organises USMLE trainings for its students). Canada – Graduates need to take Medical council of Canada Evaluation Examination (MCCEE).
Israel – Semmelweis graduates must complete one year practice and pass a test before they can practice medicine in Israel.
India – Doctor of medicine degree is equivalent to B.D.S degree in India.

Locality:

Budapest is the capital and the largest city of Hungary, and one of the largest cities in the European Union and one of the most beautiful city in Central Europe region. Budapest is the country’s principal political, cultural, commercial, industrial, and transportation centre of Hungary. City consists of two historical parts: Buda and Pest. There is river of Danube flowing in the centre of Budapest, which provides for example direct connection on river with Bratislava.

Accomodation for students:

University does not provide accomodation for its students. Its their responsibility to find private accomodation in Budapest. Average cost of accomodation is around 300€ in Budapest.

Study programmes
Dental medicine:

Dental medicine is 5-years programme. Graduates are awarded with degree of Doctor of dentistry.
Students are introduced to special dental preclinical courses from the beginning of their undergraduate studies, though their curriculum is essentially identical to that of the medical students in the first two years. Beginning in the third year, dental subjects take up an increasingly large part of the curriculum, and the number of practical courses increase significantly, as well. Students are assisted in their learning by the nearly 60 dentists who teach at the Faculty. As a result of the practice-oriented, small-group training, students are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to work independently and open their own practice after receiving their diplomas.
Language of programme: English and German.
Fee for programme is 9100 USD per semester.

Admission criterias
Admission criterias:

Applicant must have at least 18 years and completed secondary school. Besides applicant must demonstrate strong motivation to study medicine and speak good English. He or she must submit documents (below) and take an entrance examination. Entrance examinations are organised around the world by representatives of Faculty. Applicant must be invited to entrance examination.

evolution, chemical background in Biology, the cell and its organisation, from cells to tissues, cell divisions, the physiology of living organism, basic ethology, reproduction and development of animals, genetics

Documents needed for an entrance examination:

Following documents need to be submitted when applying for University:
Signed application form
School leaving certificate (document does not need to be submitted on day of entrance examination)
Transcript of records, from which is evident, that applicant passed General Biology or Zoology, General or Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry or Physics.
Letter of recommendation – especially from person, who graduated at Semmelweis university
Curriculum vitae in English
Motivation letter
Medical certificate
Signed Photographs (2 passport size photos, which need to be signed on back)
Copy of passport or ID card
Application fee of 200 USD, which is non-refundable
Fee for examination test (if entrance test is in Budapest, fee is 250 USD, if it is outside, it is 250USD plus local costs)

Transfers of students

Transfers from another university to Semmelweis university is not possible. Students may be enrolled only in the first study year, in special cases, transfering students do not need to take an entrance examination.
