Pomerian Medical University (Pomorski Uniwersytet Medyczny) – Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin, established in 1948, is a public (State-owned) medical university. PMU offers studies in 12 different fields on 4 Faculties available: Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty of Medical Biotechnology and Laboratory Medicine. PMU offers studies on all three levels: first cycle (bachelor), second cycle (master), third cycle (PhD), and long cycle (master; applies to medical and dental studies only).

Szczecin is the historical capital of Western Pomerania, and lies on the bank of the Odra River and the southern end of the Bay of Szczecin. Szczecin is definitely a student city, since there are several universities in the city: Technical University, Agricultural University, Maritime University and University of Szczecin. City had really turbulent history and was almost demolished during the second world war. Visitors should not miss the Castle of Pomeranian Dukes and the block of buildings situated on the slope along the Odra River, called “Wały Chrobrego”, the gothic City Hall from 14th century and beautiful churches. Along with a number of historical places, there are a lot of theatres, Philharmonic hall, museums, galleries, libraries and other cultural places in the city.

Accomodation for students:

University offers accomodation to students at dormitories. Students need to contact Dormitories staff directly in ordet to find possibility of free places. Students can also arrange their own accommodation in city – in that case, price varies between 900-1500 PLN.

Study programmes
Dental medicine:

Program of Dental medicine is taught in English and has 5 years of medical and dental courses. The first two years deliver with knowledge from basic, preclinical disciplines with and introduction to clinical sciences. The following three years focus on dental disciplines and clinical studies. The duration of the program is 10 semesters, with total number of 5 000 hours of lectures and practical classes.There are 4 years of teaching and 1 year where students completes 30 weeks of practical traning.

Following programs in English are offered to international students at Pomerian Medical University:
1. 6-years MD program in English
2. 5-years DMD program in English
3. 6-years Asklepios program in English designed for German citizens

Number of students accepted each year:

Dental medicine program (English program) accepts 30 students every year.

Tuition fees:

Dentistry program (English program) has 5 years and tuition fee is 10200€ for first year, 9900€ for second year and 10900€ for 3rd to 5th year.

Documents needed for an entrance examination:

Documents must be either in English or translated to Polish.

11. 3 recently taken passport photos
(Optional – work experience, recommendation letter in English or Polish)

Deadline for submitting documents for an entrance examination:

Deadline for applying for any programme is July 31st of respective year.

Transfers of students

No, transfers to Pomoranian medical university are not possible.
