The Medical University of Lodz is the largest public medical university in Poland. In the area of Science and Research, the Medical University of Lodz is known as one of the leading medical research centers in Poland. Every year over a hundred research grants are awarded for individual research projects.
MUL consists of 5 faculties and Division of studies in English.
Medical University of Lodz has 180 professors, 180 associate professors and 850 PhD academics. There are 8800 students in total (from which 600 students are foreigners). MUL cooperates with 3 teaching hospitals in Lodz.

Teaching of international students started in 2003/2004. Nowadays, there are around 600 international students enrolled at University and 400 have already graduated-
Degree from Medical University of Lodz is internationally recognised in European union. Graduates wishing to work in USA should take USMLE. Poland is member of European Union from 1st of May 2004.
Lodz is the third largest urban centre in Poland with a population of about 742,000. The city is thriving with industry and business rapidly developing, moving away from textiles, which has been in decline since 1991. It is located in the very centre of Poland, and still remains particularly favourable for the development of trade. Lodź is also sometimes known as the Polish Manchester due to its size and the fame of the textile industry that developed there in the 19th century.
University provides hausing for its students in dormitories. In total there are 4 dormitories for foreigners offered.

4-years program of general medicine is completely taught in English – Program is tailored for university graduates (especially for students from USA, Canada, Taiwan or American type of universities in other countries). There are 2 years of pre-clinical studies and 2-years of clinical subjects. After completing all requirements, there is degree Lekarz (MD) awarded. Students must take one year of internship and pass Physicians Finals Examination). From October 2017 internship will be included into the curriculum of the last year (6th) of the program.
There is one intake for international students, which is in Fall. Applicant must have Bsc degree already.
Student may apply for following study programs in English:
• 4 year MD program
• 6 year MD program
• 5year DMD program
• 3-year BSC Nursing program
Tuition fee for 4-year MD program is 12.000 EUR /year.
Application fee is non-refundable and is 120€. After Letter of Acceptance is issued, student wishing to study at MUL must pay 200€ admission fee. Price of dormitories is around 500 PLN per month.
The good news is, that students do not need to buy costly books, since they get access to University library. In addition, they obtain Student ID card, which save them plenty of money .
4-years program of Medical Doctor is tailored for students from USA, Canada, Taiwan or American universities. They must meet following criterias:
General Chemistry (I and II) 8 credits incl.lab.
Organic Chemistry (I and II) 8 credits incl.lab.
Biology (I and II) 8 credits incl.lab.
Physics (I and II) 8 credits incl.lab.
8 credits are equivalent to one year of studying at University abroad.
Humanistic and sociological courses – All together – 9 credits
In addition, every applicant must prove knowledge at the level at least Bsc.
Candidates with the MCAT result minimum: OLD- 27, NEW-504, GAMSAT minimum 59, UKCAT minimum 2600 are exempted from examining the knowledge of Biology, Chemistry and Physics being a part of the university entrance exam.
Candidates who did not take those exams or received the lower results will sit the entire Skype entrance exam verifying knowledge in Biology, Chemistry and Physics (1st year university level).
In case that education abroad was not concluded in English, student must submit English proficiency certificate, such as CAE, CPE, TOEFL IBT (minimum 75 points)), IELTS (min 6.0) points.
Admission is conducted online – applicant must submit all required documents to system (scanned copies). Those students who comply with given criterias take an Skype entrance examination.
Entrance examination is conducted online via Skype. At the beginning, applicant must present himself / herself with valid passport in front of camera.

Transfers to MUL are possible, but only to preclinical study years. That means to 2nd and 3rd study year for General medicine and 2nd year of Dental medicine. Students must still be enrolled at university and complete all subjects that are due for given academic year. Every applicant that would like to transfer to University must pay application fee in height of 300€.
Decision if there are free places for transfers are issued at the beginning of academic year.
