Ovidius University Contanta was founded in 1961 and provides study programs in medical and natural sciences, humanities and engineering, social and economic sciences, law and administrative sciences, theology and arts. There are 15000 students currently enrolled at university, 1200 international students included. University is very popular for students also thanks to its pleasant locality next to the Black sea.

Constanta is the oldest continuously inhabited city in Romania, because it was founded around 600 BC. The city is located in the Dobruja region of Romania, on the Black Sea coast. Yes, Ovidius University provides accommodation for international students. On the other hand, four student dormitories can accommodate over 1300 students during their studies. This means, that only limited number of students do not have to look for private accommodation in Contanta. Private rentals are quite cheap compared to EU averaga.

Admission criterias
Admission criterias:

Admission process has 4 steps:
1. Office of International Admission staff analyses application file, ask for correction and submit request to Ministry of Education. If everything is OK, Ministry of Education issues acceptance letter and sends it back to applicant
2. Faculty admission staff rank the applicant, issue the list of candidates who are admitted, on waiting list and rejected and updated the list
3. Admitted student should pay tuition fee
4. Faculty admission staff then enrolls student and complete file and provide the contract between university and student

Entrance examination
Documents needed for an entrance examination:

There are plenty of documents, that must be submitted by applicant, while different documents are requested from citizens of EU, EEA (and CH) countries and different from Candidates from non-EU.

A. Candidates from Europen Union, European Economic Area and Switzerland:
2 sets of the following documents:
Authorized Romanian translation of the high school diploma and original high school diploma
Authorized Romanian translation of the high school transcript and original high school transcript for all years of high school
Authorized Romanian translation of birth certificate
Proof of Language Proficiency Certificate for Romanian language released by Romanian institutions recogised by the Romanian Ministry of National Education and Scientific Research with minimum accepted level B1 or diploma of preparatory language year (entrance examination for the teaching specializations in Romanian) or proficiency certificates issued by institutions approved by the University “Ovidius” of Constanta
Medical certificate and authorized Romanian translation (if the certificate is issued in other languages than romanian language)
4 passport size photos
Copy of passport (pages 1-4)
Application forms for the ministry of education – The European citizens request for the recognition of studies in order to apply to Masters/PhD degree studies (Office of International Students staff will provide the candidate with the application)
Application forms for university – Annex 3 (Statutory Declaration ) and Annex 4
(Declaration regarding the documents submitted to the candidate’s file) – (Office of International Students staff will provide the candidate with the application)
Proof of processing fee 100 euro – – paid at BCR bank, after file is reviewd by Office of International Students staff
Europeans must also pay a processing fee of 50 RON
