University of Szeged consists of 12 faculties and is one of the biggest universities in Hungary. Totally, they have nearly 25 000 students and more than 7000 employees, 2300 academic staff included. Szeged ranks as 234th best university according to QS European Universities and is among TOP 550 QS´s best universities. There are students from more than 60 countries currently studying in Szeged.
There are following faculties that teach medical study programs in foreign language: Faculty of medicine, Faculty of dentistry and Faculty of Pharmacy.
Faculty of Medicine has a long history – it was independent institution from 1951 – institution got name Medical University of Szeged.
Degree from Faculty of medicine is internationally recognised in European Union. Graduates wishing to practice in USA must take USMLE exams.
Szeged is the third largest city of Hungary, the largest city and regional centre of the Southern Great Plain and the county seat of Csongrád county. The University of Szeged is one of the most distinguished universities in Hungary. Szeged is also very famous for its food, especially for paprika (red pepper), Székelygulyás (type of goulash), Szegedi Halászlé (soup from fish) and Pick salami.
University of Szeged does not provide dormitories or accomodation for students. Students should appoint estate agency or find shared flat, where they can stay during their studies.
Programme of general medicine has 12 semesters (6 study years) and is taught in English (but there is also possibility to take first two years of studying in German language). The first two years serve as the foundation of basic medical knowledge. From the third year theoretical training is extended with regular clinical practice, where students intensively take part in the work of the clinical departments and the teaching hospitals. In the last two semesters – the clerkship year – students perform clinical rotations of 40 weeks.
Graduates are awarded degree of Doctor of Medicine (Medical doctor, Dr. Med), which is internationally recognised in European Union and in most countries around the world. Graduates wishing to practice in USA must take USMLE exams.
In addition to tuition fees and living costs, students must pay 200 USD application fee, 300 USD entrance examination fee, 220 USD registration fee and 500 USD (1st grade) / 1000 USD (2nd to 5th grade) for summer practice completed in Szeged. State examination fee is 300 USD.
Applicants must have at least 18 years, good command of English language. Applicants who completed courses of Biology, Chemistry and Physics in high school are given preference.
There is a decision of the Admission commitee, that applicants who failed at any subject in their final year of high school studies are not entitled to apply.
Holders of following documents might be exempted from entrance examination: International Baccalaureate, General certificate of education advanced level (GCE), First class honour Bachelor of science (B.S) in Natural, Biomedical, Life science, Chemistry, Biology or Physics; First class honour bachelor of science (B.S.) degree in Dental hygiene for dentistry programme.
The exam consists of oral and written part and comprises of Biology, Chemistry or Physics and English language knowledge competence test.
Entrance examination is usually held in April, May, June and July in Szeged and in countries of agent.

Transfers from other universities are possible. Procedure is quite complicated. Applicant must complete online registration on the website of University, then print, sign and submit application online. Then General medical certificate and Dyslexia Declaration Form must be submitted to online Application and admission system.

All these documents must be send to the Admission office. Papers will be considered by Evaluation commision for submission and there will be decision brought regarding study year of applicant. There is no guarantee, that student will be accepted to higher study year.
